A shopkeeper who has displayed donation collection pots in her shop for 30 years has received a certificate of appreciation from the charity.

It is estimated that at least £5,000 has been raised by shoppers at the The Spinney supermarket in Goldington.

Bopal Samra was presented the certificate by Beds fundraising manager Gemma Kitching and flowers were handed over by Diana Shooter from the Bedford Support Group for Cancer.

Pamela Smith was also given flowers in recognition of 30 years of exchanging the full goblets.

Gemma said: “We are absolutely delighted with the support Mrs Samra has given over 30 years. During this time Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so.
