A couple who were stranded in Nepal when the first earthquake hit were among those washing cars at Dunstable Fire Station on Sunday.

Kempston firefighter Clive Wilkinson and wife Heather, who live in Shefford, have launched a fundraising effort to help those trying to piece their lives back together following the devastating earthquakes.

The car wash raised £615.

A Beds Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We’d like to thank all those that supported the car wash by bringing their cars along to be washed and everyone’s hard work at the station - Green Watch, off duty personnel and of course Clive and Heather Wilkinson.”
