A flytipper has been ordered to pay more than £1,800 for dumping building rubble in the street.

Nazar Hussain, 40, of Westfield Road, Bedford, pleaded guilty to two charges at Bedford Magistrates Court on Friday 7th March. He was fined a total of £630, ordered to pay costs of £1,140 and a victim surcharge of £45.

Magistrates heard, Bedford Borough Council received two reports of flytipping around Costin Street, Maitland Street and Battison Street in March, 2012. The rubbish piles had a note on them stating it was from a property on Midland Road, which Mr Hussain had responsibility for.

Mr Hussain claimed he had paid a man known as ‘Rubbish Man’ £55 to dispose of the rubbish from the property and could not explain how it ended up in the streets.
