With just days to go to the official opening of Bedford’s new bus station, the T&C can reveal some exclusive previews.
The state-of-the-art station promises travellers an easier journey with better disabled access and new paving and seating.
It will also house the town’s tourist information centre, which will now offer advice and tickets for bus and coach travel, as well as a range of activities beyond the borough.
The two-storey building, with its curved roof, will provide passengers with a covered, and secure, waiting area.
The multi-million pound project was created in partnership with owners Stagecoach and Bedford Borough Council, together with construction and civil engineering firm Britannia.
Britannia said it was designed to give the town an “impressive arrival and interchange facility” with an emphasis on becoming a “modern and light public space for commuters”.
The new-look bus station will welcome its first passengers on Sunday, March 29. Visit www.bedford.gov.uk
