More than 70 pupils have taken part in a mock European football championship at Castle Newnham School.
Pupils were put into mixed year group teams and each team was assigned a country. All the teams played extremely well and demonstrated a high level of skill and enthusiasm not to mention team spirit.
Germany and Wales had an incredibly close match in the finals for Years 2 and 3 teams, which went to penalties with a draw and then tension mounted as they went into ‘sudden death’. In the end Wales won and received the cup in the ceremony at the end of the competition.
In Years 3 and 4 Italy won their final after a close match.
Polly Ross, Head of Primary said: “Everyone had a great time and it really helped us all to get into the spirit of the main competition and the teams really enjoyed representing different countries.”
All pupils were rewarded with a medal at the end of the matches.
