Let’s face it, there’s a lot rubbish around at Christmas, and not just on TV.

For all the wrappings and waste, Bedfordians can get a roll of orange recycling sacks from the Borough Council free of charge.

All gift wrapping, boxes, cards, crackers and even disposable foil trays can be recycled.

Bags can be left out with the orange-lidded bins to be collected by refuse crews.

Mayor of Bedford, Dave Hodgson, said: “This year we are making it a priority to encourage as much recycling as possible during Christmas and New Year.

“Many households accumulate more recycling over the Christmas period, such as wrapping paper and plastic and cardboard packaging, so we want to make sure we collect as much as we can.”

The free orange sacks can be picked up from the following locations, until January 5, 2016:

Bedford Central Library

Putnoe Library

Wootton Library

Bromham Library

Kempston Town Library

Customer Service Centre (Horne Lane, Bedford)

Household Waste Recycling Centre (Barkers Lane, Bedford).

Some Parish Council’s will also have a supply of orange sacks to distribute to their villages, please contact your local Parish by searching for them online.
