A talented seven-year-old from Bedford is seeing her name in print after triumphing in a national storywriting competition.
Annabel Hamilton, who attends Cauldwell Lower School, entered a competiton run by Blossom Magazine, in which she had to write a 500-word story and illustrate it with pictures. As part of her prize she will see her account go into print in the magazine and was presented with a hardbound illustrated picture book of her story.
The budding young author was presented with the book by celebrated children’s author Janey Louise Jones who travelled from Edinburgh to do a special reading and writing workshop with the pupils at the school on Tuesday.
The school will also receive a selection of books for their school library from Random House.
Leading writer Janey, author of the Princess Poppy books and who judged Annabel’s work said: “It was always my dream as a little girl to be a writer, so I am really pleased to be involved with Blossom Magazine in their search for a young story-teller.
“I would loved to have had a story illustrated and published at such a young age and I’m sure the competition has been a source of inspiration for budding writers everywhere - dreams can come true!”
