Surfer joins PE ranks at the Free School

BEDFORD Free School has come a step closer to finalising its full-line up of teaching staff ahead of opening next month.

Rachel Ward will teach PE at the school in Cauldwell Street.

The 30-year-old hockey player did a four-year BA Hons degree at De Montfort University in Bedford, and she is also a keen surfer.

Also at the Free School, assistant principal Jane Herron has been meeting other members the ‘family’ of Bedford schools to discuss the smooth transition of pupils from middle schools into the new Bedford Free School.

Those coming up to Year 7 (aged 11) and those who were due to change to an upper school for Year 9 (aged 13) in September but who have instead opted to go to the Bedford Free School.
