Christmas has come early at a primary school after 25 e-readers were dropped off with £2,000 to purchase e-books.
The bundle of Kindle devices was delivered to the excited children of Balliol Lower School, Kempston, after it was nominated by workers and the charity commitee at Amazon, Milton Keynes.
General manager Ashley Cowen said: “At Amazon we love reading and we are delighted to be able to provide 25 Kindle devices to this fantastic local school.
“Many of the team have personal connections with the school and all of our associates in Milton Keynes were involved in selecting Balliol Lower School for the donation. It’s brilliant to see such a fantastic response from the children.”
Headteacher Kylie Storey said: “The pupils, staff and parents at Balliol Lower School are over the moon with this donation.
“The Kindle devices will be a valuable resource at the school and will be used to raise standards and engagement with reading; pupils will use them during reading sessions and I’m sure they will motivate pupils to read even more.
“Thank you to Ashley and the team at Amazon in Milton Keynes for this kind donation.”
