Cheers and laughter spread through a day nursery as it was named one of the best early learning centres in the country for a second time.
Juliana Di’Niro, manager of the Lavenders Day Nursery in Bushmead Avenue, Bedford, said the announcement, following a surprise Ofsted inspection, was met with tears of joy and celebrations.
Only 12 per cent of English early years providers achieve the top ‘Outstanding’ rating following inspections.
Juliana said: “The inspector was smiling as she left because as each room got the news, the staff and children erupted with cheering and laughter.
“I think some of the children thought it was a game but it was a wonderful, fun-filled, moment for us all.”
The inspector said that children, including those with specific needs, remained excited, motivated and interested in their learning due to the high quality interactions with staff.
She added: “Children are exceptionally well equipped for school as they develop into curious and skilful learners.
“Inspirational leadership creates a culture of excellence within the nursery.
“As such, all staff aspire to provide the best care possible for children.”
In praising her dedicated team, Juliana said she was delighted the inspector had recognised the close relationship between staff and parents which was vital to ensuring each child got the most from their nursery experience.
She added: “Parents and staff working together over many years have made this nursery outstanding. That Ofsted has recognised it for a second time in a row is the icing on the cake.”
Lavenders Day Nursery is part of the award-winning, employee-owned company the Childbase Partnership which has 47 day nurseries in the South of England and was named Education Investor’s Nursery Group of the Year 2011.
Juliana added: “For children aged six weeks to five years, the spacious, Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ day nursery offers ‘innovative learning through play’ programmes in imaginative, age-appropriate rooms, and they have ‘free-flow’ access to a large garden with all-year-round secure and separate play and learning areas.
“Individuality is respected and celebrated by highly trained and experienced staff dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for each and every child at this warm and friendly nursery.”
