Residents from Gordon Colling House and Windsor Court were recently welcomed to Bedford Academy for a special annual Community Christmas Dinner.
The academy’s catering team cooked up a delicious Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings, including a generous serving of mince pies or Christmas pudding for desert for 25 guests, the fourth year the event has been organised.
Academy students volunteered to serve the guests and provided entertainment. Academy student, Chelsea White, 16, sang Christmas songs accompanied by the staff band, whilst a group of sixth formers ran a raffle which helped raised funds for future community events at the school.
Bedford Academy principal, Claire Smith, said: “We really enjoy welcoming local residents to our school for events like this. It is a great way to help build relationships between different generations in Bedford.
“The special dinner definitely got everyone into the Christmas spirit, and we’re looking forward to continuing with our community events in the New Year.”
The Academy regularly holds events for local residents, and in the new year sixth form students studying health and social care will be volunteering to help out at the care homes, and offering support to the Gordon Collings IT club and social club.
