Author of the young fantasy series Keeper of the Realms, Marcus Alexander, visited Goldington Academy and encouraged pupils to get reading.
With his love of books and writing, Marcus inspired the whole school to ‘Get their read on’ during his visit on Friday, January 17.
His life as an author has been heavily influenced by his travels and hobbies which include parkour (free running), acrobatics, snowboarding and martial arts.
He introduced pupils to his main character, Charlie Keeper, a brave and feisty young heroine who is destined to rescue Bellania from evil and malevolence.
The pupils - and teachers - enjoyed the visit, with more than 200 pupils meeting Marcus individually to purchase a signed copy of his books.
In addition 60 boys and girls enjoyed a writing workshop with him during the course of the day.
One Year 7 pupil said: “It was great fun and very inspirational. I liked that his main character was a girl.”
Mrs Ross, the academy’s reading co-ordinator said: “This was a really exciting opportunity for pupils to meet with a young, modern author and has shown pupils that reading and writing is cool!”
