Bedford schools needs memories
Arthur Stanbridge, seven, appeals for people to come forward with their memories of Polam School in Landsdowne Rd, Bedford.
A Bedford school that is celebrating its 90th anniverary is appealing to former students to share their valuable memories of their school days.
Polam School would like anyone to come forward and share any memorabilia, photographs or old school reports to help illustrate the institution’s 90 years of service to its community.
The school’s goal is to curate an exhibition detailing its longstanding history and reputation and anyone wishes to share their Polam memories they can also submit photos, stories and materials via the Polam School Facebook group.
Phillipa Villa, Headteacher of Polam School, said: “Everyone at Polam School is incredibly excited at the prospect of celebrating this historic year and preparations for our 90th anniversary are well on their way.
“I would like to extend an invitation to all school alumni, former school staff and our friends in the community to share their school memories and join us in our celebrations.
“I am delighted with the level of enthusiasm our pupils have shown at the prospect of learning more about their school’s history though the memorabilia. Our aim at Polam School is to inspire and encourage a spirit of enquiry and exploration.”
Polam School will officially mark its 90th anniversary with a week of celebrations beginning on June 10th, where the school’s flag will be raised for the first time in over a decade.
During the week-long celebrations Polam School pupils will welcome guests to tour their school and visit the exhibition of all donated and loaned memorabilia.
And there will be a celebratory garden party which will be held in the school’s grounds on Saturday, June 15.
In addition to traditional Punch and Judy shows, live music and circus performances, guests will have the opportunity explore the exhibited memorabilia.
