The biblical Easter story was brought to life through live theatre with storytellers, props and specially made scenery.
St Andrew’s Church in Kimbolton Road, Bedford, invited schoolchildren along to its Easter Experience Trail.
Storytellers in biblical costumes took visitors on an interactive tour around scenery, telling the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus as they walked from room to room.
Children and young person’s activities co-ordinator Becky Guynn said: “This was a really exciting chance to bring the Easter story to life for many children that may not necessarily have heard the story of Holy Week before.
“By seeing it acted out it brings it to life and they remember it more than if you just show them a book or just tell them the story. Children are a lot more visual now. They would rather see it than hear it.”
Last week the church was booked up with visiting youngsters, which means the story was told to more than 360 children.
The live event follows on from the success of the church bringing the Christmas story to life through theatre, which was completed with real donkeys.
