An egg-cellent Easter bonnet parade was a colourful sight for pre-schoolers at Lavenders Day Nursery in Bedford.

April Oliver, deputy manager at the nursery in Bushmead Avenue, said: “All the creations were imaginative and clearly the result of a great deal of work by our parents and children. In fact, we are always surprised by the creativity and practical skills demonstrated by parents and children working together on their bonnets at home.”

All entrants in the parade were presented with an Easter egg and a certificate but judging will take place after the holidays as many children were away with their families.

A special Easter roast lunch, prepared by nursery chef Claire Battle, followed the parade which was the finale to a busy time with children of all ages crafting greetings cards and chocolate treats for their parents while studying life cycles and the beginning of spring.
