A prolific drug dealer caught in Kempston has been jailed for seven years after being chased by police through the town.
Kwesi Asideu, 29, was found with 38 wraps of cocaine and seven wraps of heroin.
He was arrested after police officers noticed a vehicle being driven suspiciously in Kempston on May 4.
The officers began a pursuit when the car failed to stop.
They then continued the chase on foot when the driver left the vehicle and ran off.
Police managed to catch and arrest the offender on suspicion of dangerous driving.
A search of the nearby area where Asideu was found resulted in officers recovering the wraps of cocaine and heroin.
Asideu was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and was sentenced on Tuesday to seven years imprisonment after pleading guilty.
Detective Constable Adam Cave, who was the investigating officer for the case, said after the court hearing: “Drugs have no place in our community and we are committed to tackling organised criminals such as Asideu to reduce the circulation of these dangerous substances.
He added: “We cannot over-exaggerate the damage that drugs have on people’s lives; causing addiction, illness, financial ruin, and even death, and I’m pleased that Asideu’s sentence reflects the severity of his offences.”
