A crook tricked her way into a 78 year old man’s home by pretending she needed to use the toilet.

The distraction burglary happened on Monday (June 1) at around 3.30pm at a home in Fenlake Road, Bedford.

After the callous thieve, who also asked for a glass of water, had left the elderly victim discovered that his wallet was missing.

PC Ryan Barnes said: “I would urge people in the area to be vigilant and look out for their neighbours, particularly if they are elderly or vulnerable.

“I would also remind people to not let doorstep callers into their home and to always ask for identification from any cold caller salespeople.”

The woman is white, around 5ft 2in tall and of a large build. She had straight, light brown hair and was described as scruffy. She was wearing a light brown cardigan, skirt and sandals.

Anyone with any information can call PC Barnes via the Beds Police non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
