This year five outstanding Bedfordshire volunteering groups were awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service - now the deadline for next year is approaching.
The honour is the highest in the UK for groups of volunteers, recognising the outstanding contributions made in their local communities.
The groups were nominated by members of the public who have seen the difference that volunteers have made to the lives of others, or witnessed the benefits of a group’s work within their community.
The deadline for nominating groups for the 2015 awards is fast approaching.
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis said: ”The fact that five Bedfordshire volunteer groups were honoured in this very special way by Her Majesty the Queen this year was a tremendous illustration of the wonderful service given by so many volunteers in our different communities. Bedfordshire is a very special, vibrant place where volunteer groups are encouraged, supported and able to flourish.
I would encourage people to seriously consider making nominations for other groups for the 2015 awards, before the closing date of 30 September 2014, by visiting the website www.gov.uk/queens-award-for-voluntary-service”.
