Cyclist air lifted to hospital after falling from bike

A cyclist was airlifted to hospital from Bedford after he fell from his bike on Saturday (July 11).

The Magpas Helimedix helicopter was called to the town at 8.10pm after man in his 60s suffered serious injuries.

Doctor Maria Smith and Paramedic Simon Standen assessed the patient who had suffered serious chest injuries.

He was anaesthetised by the medics, who providing specialist A&E care at the scene, before he was flown to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

On arrival at the hospital the patient was in a serious but stable condition.

An EEAST Ambulance Service Paramedic Crew and the Police were also on the scene.
