Woman indecently assaulted while waiting for boyfriend in town

A man indecently assaulted a woman as she waited for her boyfriend in Midland Road, Bedford.

The woman, aged 21, was sitting on the wall outside the i-create building on Midland Road, opposite the Lamberts convenience shop, at about 11am on Thursday, June 26.

While she was sitting there, two men came walking down Midland Road from the town centre and both approached her.

One of the men stood over her and putting his face right into hers, said that his friend was lonely and then grabbed her between the legs.

Naturally frightened, the woman managed to pull away from him and ran away towards the bridge to Queen’s Park, while the man shouted after her.

Both men walked along Prebend Street towards the river, where she lost sight of them as she met her boyfriend on the bridge.

Both men are described as black, with a dark skin tone, about 25-30 years old, 6ft tall and large built with very short/shaved hair. One was wearing dark trousers, the other had a plain black T-shirt.

Det Con Surinder Ram, of Greyfriars CID, would like to hear from anyone who saw any of this assault or was in the area at the time and may be able to identify the men.
