A man attacked a car with some sort of a weapon on Monday after a teenager was pulled over by a van driver.

The incident happened between 5.15pm and 5.40pm when the 18-year-old victim was driving along Cleat Hill in Bedford.

A white transit pulled out in front of him but when both vehicles arrived at the roundabout which connects Kimbolton Road and Wentworth Drive, the van stopped.

The victim sounded his horn to let the driver of the van know that there was traffic behind him but when he still didn’t move the victim drove around the van and turned onto Wentworth Drive.

Moments later the victim noticed that the van was driving behind him, flashing his headlights and indicating for the victim to pull over, which he did close to Mark Rutherford School in Wentworth Drive.

The victim noticed that the driver of the van had reached over and grabbed something from the passenger side before getting out of his vehicle and it was at this point that the victim believes he saw a weapon.

The victim attempted to drive away from the scene and as he did so the offender ran towards his car and struck it with the object that he was holding.

The victim was not injured during the altercation but PC Lauren Holt, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed what took place.
