Eight arrests following early morning drugs raids in Bedford

Eight people have been arrested following raids on two addresses in Bedford this morning (Thursday, August 27).

Armed police officers carried out two warrants, one at a property in Rutland Road, and one in Alexandra Road, after receiving intelligence about potential drugs and firearms offences.

The warrants were carried out at approximately 5.45am and involved a number of police officers and police dogs.

Seven people were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, including three women from Bedford aged 32, 44 and 47.

A 48-year-old man from Bedford was also arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They have all been taken to Luton Police Station for questioning.

Police community support officers (PCSOs) will be carrying out reassurance patrols in the local area today.
