A decision by councillors to spend their ward funds on bulbs has been voted a blooming success by the public.

Several Labour councillors invested in job lots of bulbs from Holland and had them mechancially planted in their wards.

Pictured is the glorious display at The Spinney in Kempston, provided by ward councilor Will Hunt.

“They will flower year after year, proably for the next 20 years. We thought it would be a nice thing to do,” said Councillor Shan Hunt, who also planted bulbs in her Kempston North ward.

Meanwhile in Bedford, Harpur Ward councillors Colleen Atkins and Louise Jackson are resposnible for the bulb display on grassed slopes in Turner Way and Rowlandson Way.
