Devastated family and friends of a woman who has been missing since Boxing Day are desperately appealing for help from the public in finding her.
Indian-born Sonica Hans, 35, of Priory Court, Bedford, has not been seen since around 2pm on December 26 when she left the house she shares with her sister.
Beds Police this week put out an appeal asking for the public’s help in finding her, and her sister Manisha Singh and family Atak Kareem have spoken out about Sonica in a desperate bid to find her.
Manisa, 32, said: “I’m just really, really worried about her, this is something that is completely out of character for her.
“I last saw her on Boxing Day, about 2pm she said she was going into town, and she asked if I wanted anything. I said no and she said ‘I’ll see you in a bit’. But she never came back.
“I only told my mum, who still lives in India, about four days ago because I didn’t want her to worry. But both her and my other sister are devastated, they’re calling me every day asking for news. I just want to know that she’s safe.”
Sonica and Manisha have lived together for around five years after they both moved to the UK from India to get married. After Sonica divorced her husband she moved in with Manisha in Bedford.
Family friend Ataf added: “We are all praying that she’s safe and well, but unfortunately evidence is pointing to otherwise. She sent a text to a man she was seeing and a friend indicating that she was going to take her own life.
“And she is a real gadget girl, she was never off her iPhone and Facebook, but her phone has been switched off and and she hasn’t been online since she disappeared.
“It’s just so unlike her not to get in touch with her family and to just leave them worried like this. She’s a really bubbly, friendly girl. I would ask anyone who may have seen her to come forward.”
Sonica is around 5ft 3ins tall, with very long black hair. which is currently dyed dark brown. She was last seen in red trousers/leggings, black jumper and wearing a dark blue jacket.
There is also a Facebook page dedciated to finding her called Sonica Hans.
