A family, who run a cafe in town, are giving up their own family festivities to put on a big dinner for people will be alone this Christmas Day.
Cafe BluBeri will be open on Christmas Day and will be welcoming people for Christmas lunch who would otherwise be on their own.
James Jandu runs the family business with his wife Gabriella after they opened it in memory of Gabriella’s father who died last year.
Along with their two sons they will be serving up a traditional Christmas dinner, as well as buying gifts for their guests.
James said: “Usually at Christmas we spend it at home and invite one or two friends over. But this year we feel that we have made so many new friends through the cafe we decided to hold it there.
“We have had quite a few customers telling us they will be alone this Christmas Day and we just couldn’t bear the thought of them being alone while we are having nice Christmas.
“We sat down as a family to talk about it, but we all said straight away that we should open up and have lunch at the cafe.”
James and his family will be serving Christmas lunch between 1pm and 3pm on December 25. Pop in to the High Street cafe to book your place.
A life-sized Doctor Who dalek will also be at the cafe on Saturday to raise money for the lunch and gifts.
