Comic Al Murray to stand as The Pub Landlord against Nigel Farage in May election

Comic Al Murray - a former Bedford School pupil - has confirmed he will stand in his guise as The Pub Landlord against UKIP’s controversial Nigel Farage.

The popular comedian, whose straight talking stage character is based around a love of all things British, has formed the Free United Kingdom Party (FUKP).

He has confirmed he will stand in the general election for the Kent constituency of South Thanet.

In a video on his website, Mr Murray tells viewers: “It seems to me that the UK is ready for a bloke waving a pint around offering common sense solutions - cheers!”

He also admits that he has no idea where South Thanet.

If elected The Pub Landlord promises to first introduce a £1 a pint policy and has drawn up a tongue in cheek 13-point common sense plan to save the country.
