Traffic was backed up on the M1 this morning after a car burst into flames following a collision with a lorry.
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident on the southbound carriageway, between junctions 13 and 12, at 5.20am (December 7).
When Firefighters from Toddington and Woburn Community Fire Stations arrived they found one car one fire after a collision with an LGV.
The LGV had left the scene.
Supported by crews from Dunstable, Firefighters fought the fire using breathing apparatus to protect themselves form fumes and smoke.
To extinguish the fire they used two fire hoses, dry powder and a hosemaster device that convert water into foam.
There were no casualties and the incident was closed at 6.15am.
However, they incident has caused delays of about one-and-a-half hours heading south.
