School closed by weather

Icy weather conditions have stopped one school opening in Bedford Borough this morning, and have caused minor delays to the bus service.
Hastingsbury Upper School in Kempston will be closed today after the site was deemed dangerous due to the 10cm of snow which froze overnight.
No other schools have been reported closed.
Stagecoach bus services are running as normal but with minor delays.
First Capital Connect trains between Bedford and London are running with delays of up to five minutes and there are no disruptions to the East Midlands or London Midland train services.
The East of England Ambulance service have reported a rise in the number of calls received between 11pm yesterday and 9am this morning and are calling for the public to call 999 only in real emergencies.
Paul Henry, associate director for operations support, said: “The conditions have to be dealt with appropriately and safely by all out staff and volunteers.
“We are working hard to avoid or deal with any difficulties in reaching patients or taking them to hospital, but any non-emergency cases might have to be prepared to be patient and wait a little longer than usual.”
Bedford Borough gritting service have been salting priority roads throughout the weekend and attended to footpaths in the town centre yesterday afternoon.
Freezing temperatures are predicted for this evening.
