Karen and Mike’s tasty new venture
A sandwich shop that offers a traditional tea room experience has opened in town.
K&M’s Sandwich Bar, which is named after the owners Karen Endersby and Mike Copley-Morrison, opened last month in Mill Street, Bedford.
The shop has been open for around three weeks and the couple say trade is already going well.
Karen, 48, said: “It’s going well, trade is picking up every day. We get quite busy at lunchtime, but we would like to attract more people in the morning.”
Mike added: “I think we offer something a little bit different, I feel that we offer an old tea room type of atmosphere. You don’t really get tea rooms anymore, so it’s really nice to try and bring that back.
“Mill Street is a very busy road, obviously there are other cafes and sandwich shops here, but I think we all offer something different. I don’t see us in competition with anyone.”
K&M’s has a wide range of jacket potatoes, paninis, sandwiches, and home-made cakes, and all its fillings are freshly made.
Mike, also 48, added: “We make things ourselves everywhere we possibly can. All of our fillings are made here, even the prawns we buy in and make the sauce ourselves.
“We are a friendly couple wanting to do what we enjoy, which is selling. We really enjoy the meeting and greeting side as well.”
The shop also offers a buffet service for functions. If you are interested call them on 07747180673.
