Cheaper parking for eco-friendly cars

COMMUTERS who drive more environmentally-friendly cars can now qualify for a discount when parking their vehicles at Bedford Railway Station.

The scheme, run by rail operator First Capital Connect (FCC), means a 10 per cent discount for customers who buy a season ticket via the firm’s mobile payment system RingGo.

It applies to vehicles classed as low-emission in Band A, B or C with the DVLA,

Season tickets can be bought for one quarter, six months or a year.

FCC spokesman David Burns, said: ““Carbon-metered parking benefits the environment in so many ways: not just from the company point of view, of reducing resource requirements and promoting a move to electronic payments; but also by encouraging motorists to think about the type of vehicle they drive.”
