Eclectic rooms help make meetings fun

Work meetings and training sessions in office board rooms can be among the dullest hours you’ll spend in a week.

But since Maximo Learn opened in Bedford, with its eclectic and fun rooms for hire, no one ever need meet in a corporate grey room again.

Manager Sarah Clarke says the centre’s funky theme helps unlock people’s creativity and inspires great ideas.

She said: “I spent a long time researching training facilities and realised most were quite depressing.

“It’s proven when people are having fun, they are more productive and work harder. We’ve filled a gap in the market by making our rather ordinary building magical inside.”

The rooms span the decades in style: the reception, called Ship Ahoy!, features a vintage cocktail bar in the shape of the prow of a luxury yacht while The Not Bored Room has a stripped-down Scandinavian feel.

They also boast state of the art audio-vision equipment, flipcharts and whiteboards to ensure the serious business gets done, in between delicious tea-and-cake breaks.

Sarah said: “Since opening last April, we’ve hosted a range of clients such as Asda hosting logistics meetings, to one-man-bands offering training. They have all reported better results by coming here.”

Maximo Learn offers day, evening and weekend hire by the hour, day, or longer.
