A company that is busy expanding and creating new jobs had the opportunity to share its success story with the Mayor of Bedford.
Mayor Dave Hodgson visited garden buildings company Dunster House Ltd at its head office in Caxton Road where recent growth has seen the acquisition of a new factory.
The visit has helped highlight the success of Dunster House, a company that has been continually expanding for 19 years.
The Mayor was given a guided tour of the Bedford head office by the company founders Chris and Pamela Murphy, director Andrew Murphy and head of operations, Mike Hart-King.
The tour took the Mayor through the display garden where Chris Murphy explained the various ranges displayed.
Cllr Hodgson was also shown around the new prototype of the Lienne MK2 garden office which is now being tested in the display garden.
The tour included the factory which manufactures DIY uPVC windows and doors, as well as the carpentry and prototyping stations which build and test garden building designs for durability and use.
To end the tour, the Mayor was shown around the recently acquired second factory on Caxton Road, which stands on a 3.98-acre plot of land and has an area of 68,072 sq ft, allowing for the company to continue to grow.
Andrew Murphy said: “The continual expansion of Dunster House is allowing us to not only expand our operation and serve more customers, but also allows us to provide more local jobs. In the last six weeks we have employed 16 new members of staff in Bedford, with further roles having been filled at the other three branches.”
Cllr Hodgson said: “It’s always interesting to meet local businesses and hear from them what it is like on the frontline.
“Dunster House has become a real success story in the borough, having seen massive growth in the last 10 years and yet remains a family owned business now employing more than 150 people.
“It was great to meet everybody involved and see the huge diverse range of products that are produced there. There is clearly a shed for every occasion as well as sheds for occasions you hadn’t even thought of!”
