Their chips are golden and crispy - and they have beaten all their competitors to be named as the best in the area.
Bromham Fish Shop, located on Molivers Lane, received the most votes in our contest and has been crowned the Bedfordshire Times & Citizen Chip Shop of the Year, 2014.
The ‘Chip Shop of the Year’ contest launched back in February, and was your chance to tell us your favourite fish and chip shop. Your nominations created our final shortlist of 14 local establishments and after three weeks of voting, Bromham Fish Shop has been crowned the winner!
Thank you to everyone who nominated, voted and got in touch – we’ve been overwhelmed by the response.
To commemorate their success, we presented Bromham Fish Shop with our special ‘Chip Shop of the Year 2014’ certificate.
Owner Caroline Bennett was delighted with her win - but couldn’t quite believe it!
She said: “It’s great, I’m really pleased and so thanks to all who voted for us.”
Caroline has run the fish shop for nine years and has family to help out when needed - husband Roger and their children Christopher, 21, James, 19 and Jessica 16 all literally chip in when they can.
Their secret of success - excellent service and dishing up food that tastes good!
Open Monday to Saturday, the shop delivers to villages around the area, and also serves up a range of other food as well as fish and chips. They have specials on offer, including deals for pensioners at lunchtimes.
You can call the shop on 01234 824121.
>> Following on from the success of our chip shop of the year competition, we will shortly be launching our ‘Salon of the Year’ contest. For full details on how to nominate your favourite hair and/or beauty salon, simply pick up a copy of this newspaper on Thursday, May 8.
