A new family-owned fish and chip restaurant has opened in Bedford.

The proprietors are brothers Carmelo and Frankie Mongiovi and follow in their family’s footsteps in the catering trade with the opening of Mr Fish, at 39 Ford End Road.

The restaurant opened for business on Monday, September 15 following support for the enterprise from the commercial real estate team at law firm Shakespeares.

The firm has acted for the Mongiovi family on a number of catering business ventures and provided ongoing support.

Donna Hopkins, associate and head of commercial real estate at Shakespeares’ Milton Keynes office represented the two brothers to help facilitate the lease of the property.

She said: “It’s great to see two young entrepreneurs who really know their business branch out in this new venture.

“I’m sure it will be a great success.”

Carmelo, 24, said: “I’m glad we had Donna to help us. She explained the complicated aspects of acquiring a lease for a new business in a way that made it accessible, so we knew exactly what we were taking on.

“She was unflappable when there was a last minute glitch in the contract regarding deposits and just got on and sorted it out. She was brilliant.”

Frankie, 21, added: “We’ve had lots of interest from new customers – even before we opened. People know they will get great tasting food and a warm welcome here.”
