Two tickets to meet Boyzone and see them in concert await the lucky winner of a Flitwick school fete raffle, thanks to a quick-thinking parent .
Forget about the usual bottles of wine and boxes of chocolate – when Kingsmoor Lower School holds its gala this Saturday, from 11am to 1pm, visitors could win the opportunity to meet the band before their concert in Northampton this month.
Siobhan Monaghan, music journalist and mother of six-year-old pupil Erin, snared the tickets.
She said: “I covered a Boyzone UNICEF trip to Thailand a few years ago and met Ronan Keating then. A couple of weeks ago I said to their manager, ‘I don’t mean to be cheeky, but could you get me two concert tickets for my daughter’s school raffle?’ and they did which was great.
“We’re not inflating prices – it’s still £1 for a strip of tickets –although some of the other mothers have told me that they will be offering £20 for a winning raffle ticket!”
As well as the raffle there will be face and nail-painting, space hopper races, a cake stall, hook a duck, welly wanging, beat the keeper, tombolas and lots more.
Admission is free and all funds go directly to the school.
