The glamour of the Martini-drinking, international spy-set encouraged party-goers to raise just over £11,000 for charity.

James Bond-inspired black-tie event, The Advancing SKYBALL 2015, was held in aid of The Beds and Northants MS Therapy Centre, in Barkers Lane, Bedford.

It was the second ball organised by Advancing People Ltd to help the charity, and featured casino tables, a raffle and auction, and, of course, a wide cocktail menu.

Fundraising coordinator Keely Ann Jones said the total was “overwhelming”.

She said: “The ball raised more than double the amount of last year’s.

“All the money will go towards the continuing running of the centre and the services it offers.

“It is a self-funding centre and needs £350,000 a year to run.”

She added: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making this event such a great success.”

The centre’s coffers were also boosted by collections held last month outside Tesco, Riverfield Drive, which raised £444.60, and Budgens, in Bromham, which raised £236.75.
