A building was destroyed by fire at a car breakers yard on Sunday night.

Firefighters were called to the Japanese Car Breakers in Ampthill Road, Bedford, just before 11pm where they found the 12 metre by 4 metre temporary building ablaze.

Two fire crews from Kempston battled the flames.

A spokesman for Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “They fought the fire with one hose and one jet and the incident was over by 11.30pm. The temporary building was 100 per centre destroyed by fire, there were no casualties.”

The police have been informed about the incident but are not treating it as suspicious.
