The Bishop of St Albans, the Right Rev Dr Alan Smith, joined Brenda Minney at a celebration cake cutting to mark the 50th anniversary of the building of the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Barford Avenue, Bedford.

Brenda is the longest serving member of the church which was first established in 1933. The church service, at which Bishop Alan preached, was attended by members, former members and friends of St Michael’s, Elstow Abbey, St Mary’s, Cardington and London Road Methodist Churches, and former priests.

Refreshments were served and the cake cutting held at Scott Hall community centre where they were joined by the Bishop of Bedford, the Right Rev Richard Atkinson, and Rural Dean, the Rev Richard Hibbert.
