A bike riding ex-serviceman will get in the saddle for a fundraising trip from John O’Groats to Lands’ End - starting in Bedford.

Nobby Clark, who had to leave the Army due to injury, will be joined by other bikers for the fundraiser in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

The week-long ride, covering around 400 miles a day, will be started at Bedford’s Embankment by mayor Dave Hodgson on Saturday, July 25.

Riders will set off on their journey under police escort to the A1.

A the end of the challenge, on their return to Bedford, the bikers will be met by police at the Wyboston services where they will be escorted back into Bedford.

On the way they will pull up outside Bedford Blues Rugby Club where the motorcyclists will remove their helmets and put berets before riding through the town centre back to the war memorial on Friday, July 31.
