A charity in Bedford is on the hunt for new befriending volunteers for its new service.

St John’s needs befriender volunteers who can help support patients with life-limiting conditions with activities like shopping, going to appointments or just helping to improve a person’s self-esteem or confidence.

Tracy Haddock, head of community services for St John’s PEPS service said: “We have first-hand experience of the benefits of volunteering and the difference that services like befriending can make to people’s lives. We need volunteers who are warm and friendly and people need to be able to support patients in their own homes, on a one-to-one basis.”
