Have your say

There’s more to being a barista than making a great cup of coffee – as two school pupils will testify.

In fact the youngsters have been so impressed with the service of the Starbucks team at Bedford rail station that they sent a note thanking them for making them feel welcome, happy and safe.

The note reads: “Since September we have been touched by your kindness and generosity. It is so easy for a barista to simply make a drink and hand it over. You however have not only made up delicious drinks every week but put a smile on our face and treat us like family. As you know school can often be miserable and get you down in the dumps. But no matter how bad school is, we always look forward to walking through the station doors and into Starbucks. Each day we are greeted by two or three smiling faces who are so easys to talk to and definitely have the greatest senese of humour. It is a great gift to make people happy.”

The pupils, who signed off as Henry and T’nnox add: “For 221 days we have visited more than 442 times. Each day gets better and better. Long may you reign.”

One parent said: “As a parent I think this team are special in the way they help the kids each day. Small acts of kindness go a long way in my book. The team are amazing and a credit to the town.”

The Starbucks team were delighted with the recognition but said it was all part of the job.

A spokesman said: “We’ve such a wonderful team and we’ve become less colleagues and more like family. Our customers, both regular and new, have created a real sense of community that makes coming to work a real joy.”
