Holocaust Memorial Day in Bedford on Monday took on the theme of Journeys.
The commemoration began at noon when a group gathered at the Anne Frank Memorial Tree in Russell Park for a short service led by Rev Mark Fudger from Bedford Council of Faiths.
Prayers were told to remember all victims of genocide and the memorial candle was lit.
This was followed by a commemoration of music and readings at the Harpur Suite in Bedford town centre led by Rev Cass Howes, co-chair of Bedford Council of Faiths.
Music and poetry was provided by the Polish Promethidion group, Music4Memory and Goldington Academy.
Eleven memorial candles were lit to represent the communities of those communities targetted in the Holocaust and other genocides.
Naomi Fellerman delivered the Kaddish Recitation while mayor Dave Hodgson gave a reading from Nelson Mandela’s autobiography Long Walk To Freedom.
