Bedford officially lights up for Christmas on Wednesday with a spectacular fireworks display.
The official celebrations take place at 7pm on November 26 along The Embankment.
The annual switch on is a popular, family-orientated event and is expected to attract thousands of people of all ages to enjoy the spectacle.
This year’s event, which is supported by BedfordBID, also marks the start of late night Christmas shopping in town.
The Mayor of Bedford Borough, Dave Hodgson, said: “The switch-on is always a hugely popular event for all the family.
“We look forward once again to seeing thousands of people coming together to enjoy the occasion and mark the start of the Christmas season in Bedford in style.
“It coincides with the first evening of late-night shopping, so why not kick-start your Christmas shopping before walking along the Embankment from Town Bridge to enjoy the show?”
There will be free parking on November 26, from 5.30pm, in River Street, Allhallows and Lurke Street car park.
The Christmas Fair will take place in Harpur Square and Midland Road, from 10am, from Friday, December 12 to Sunday, December 14 where people can experience the sights, sounds and smells of a traditional Christmas with stalls throughout centre selling seasonal gifts, foods and treats. It will feature street entertainment, music and shows.
Children can be kept entertained by rides including a helter skelter, carousel, swing boats, and a great steam engine.
