Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision which has closed the A428 in both directions

At around 6.50am this morning, a blue Volkswagen Polo was travelling eastbound from the direction of Turvey when it was involved in a collision with a white Peugeot Partner van driving westbound from the direction of Bromham.

The driver of the Volkswagen was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s hospital and is currently in a serious but stable condition. The driver of the van is being treated for slight injuries.

The road has been closed in both directions between Stevington and Bromham while recovery work takes place.

Sergeant Pete Talbot from the Beds, Cambs and Herts Roads Policing Unit said: “This incident took place when many people were likely to be making their way to work. I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident taking place.”
