Bedford really has got some amazing live shows coming up, and if Monday night’s Stiff Little Fingers performance has anything to go by we are in for a real treat.
The night kicks off with a packed Corn Exchange being treated to the solo sounds of Edward Tudor-Pole. Here is man who has seen and done it all, from fronting the Sex Pistols and his own band Tenpole Tudor, to appearing in Harry Potter and Game Of Thrones.
And the audience is suitably reverent for the former host of The Crystal Maze, who treats us to songs which span his career including top ten hit Swords Of A Thousand Men.
(To find out more about Edward click on the video).
And now it is time for Stiff Little Fingers, the band who defined a generation and provided a soundtrack for an Irish youth consumed by the troubles.
To say we are not disappointed is an understatement, the band play every song that you knew and loved as a teenager and more besides, followed by a riotous rendition of Alternative Ulster as a finale.
It is easy to see how Stiff Little Fingers have inspired many, the likes of Dropkick Murphies and Green Day to name but a few.
After the show leadsinger Jake Burns told us how much the band had enjoyed playing in Bedford, their last UK date before travelling to the US. And I’m sure the people of Bedford would echo my gushing sentiments that a cracking night was had by all.
And don’t forget Monday is your chance to see horror punks The Misfits, who will play at The Corn Exchange with support from Sick On The Bus.
