Warm conditions didn't stop Neil Allonby from racing home in record time at Icknield Road Club's open 50-mile time-trial on Sunday.
Allonby clocked a new personal best time of 1.55.27hrs and was one of six clubmen who took on the course between Bedford, Buckden and Biggleswade.
He was followed home by Peter Harridge in 2.00.15hrs, Richard Gray, 2.01.04hrs, Andy Parrish, 2.02.59hrs, Barry Gilzean, 2.06.49hrs, and John Pfeiffer in 2.18.52hrs.
Despite only finishing second, Harridge now leads the club championship standings and could clinch the trophy in the upcoming 12-hour event to be held in September.
However, the day was marred by a serious injury to third-placed Gray, who suffered a fall from his cycle when he struck a raised kerb and was taken to hospital with a cracked shoulder.
Elsewhere, Pfeiffer was also in action at the veterans' 10-mile time trial on the Leighton Buzzard by-pass course on Wednesday. He clocked 26.13mins and finished behind clubmate Brian Davies, who finished in 24.43mins.
Peter Hopkins, meanwhile, continues to perform well and, over the weekend, he entered the Diss and District Classic Bike 25-mile event.
Riding a 1953 bicycle made by AJ Hodge of Luton, he recorded a time of 1.16.56hrs in the event over a hilly course.
CC Luton's Alan Galloway continued his good form on the track at Welwyn Garden City with a second place finish in the points race.
The 10-lap race has points for the first four riders across the finish line every lap.
Galloway made his move from the gun, breaking away and taking maximum points for the first three laps. He was then caught by the main field but recovered to take third place on the final lap, giving him a good enough points tally for second spot.
CC Luton new boy Anthony Moyle, meanwhile, made his debut at the velodrome and finished sixth in the 10-lap scratch race.
Team Sanjan Design veterans Stuart Tarry and Nick Pitt claimed second and fourth places finishes at the VTTA 10-mile time-trial on Wednesday.
Tarry clocked 21.33mins, while Pitt managed 21.58mins.
At the St Ives CC 10-mile time-trial, Andy Bright clocked 25.15mins for seventh place, while in roasting hot condition at the Shaftesbury CC 50-mile time-trial, near Newmarket on Saturday, Ian Markham recorded one of his fastest ever times at the distance with 1.54.53hrs, while Alan Crane managed 2.03.21hrs.
At the St Neots CC 22.4-mile time-trial, meanwhile, Bright came home in 1.00.30hrs.
