Lilley batsman bashes Bramfield

Lilley all-rounder Gareth Tompkins smashed a devastating 155 off just 83 balls to help his side demolish Bramfield by 185 runs in Division Two of the North Herts League.

The 21-year-old's blistering knock included 14 fours and 11 sixes, including five in one over, as Lilley set a new club record total of 327-5 from 40 overs, with Tim Perry also hitting an unbeaten 59 from 57 balls. James Ashby then took 3-15 as the visitors were bowled out for 142.

Vauxhall Motors are now 30 points clear at the top of the Bedfordshire County League Premier Division after a 66-run win against Biggleswade Town.

Motors won the toss and elected to bat first. Zaheer Khan hammered seven fours and two sixes in his 71 as they were bowled out for 216.
That total proved more than enough as Mohammad Ghufran took 4-42 to help skittle Biggleswade out for 150 and keep Vauxhall speeding towards the title.

Alan Carr took 4-47 for Dunstable as Flitwick were bowled out for just 137, while an unbeaten 40 from Ian Moody and 46 from Geoff Baines were enough to see Dunstable romp home by eight wickets after making 138-2.

In Division One, Dunstable's seconds were set a challenging total of 255 to win their match at Caldecote after the hosts had totalled 254-9 in their innings.

But, despite an unbeaten half century from Colin Tibbett and 48 from Dan Hurst, they fell well short, finishing on 215-6.

Motors' second string, meanwhile, slipped to a 34-run defeat at the hands of Blunham in Division Two.

Responding to a competitive 273-8, Motors could only manage 239 in their innings but, despite the disappointment, they still remain in second place.

Elsewhere, Paul Gilbert, Peter Treharne and Andy Tutton all notched half centuries for Dunstable IIIs on their way to a mammoth 311-4 against Caldecote IIs in Division Four.

In the reply, Tom Byrne and Nick Massie took four wickets apiece to rip through the Caldecote batting line-up as they were bowled out for 170 and handed the home side an easy 141-run victory.

In the Saracens Herts League, prolific run scorers Jeremy Page and Pradeep Jayanprakashdaran were at it again as Luton Town and Indians drew with Radlett II in Division Two.

Page (90), Jayanprakashdaran (52no) along with Hemal Randerwala (66) steered them to 222-3.

However, they couldn't complete the job with the ball and, despite the best efforts of Divyesh Patel 3-54 and Jayanprakashdaran 3-48, Radlett finished on 183-7.

Town IIs, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom of Division Five after they lost by four wickets at home to Langleybury IIs. Batting first, the home side were skittled out for 163, with Adil Khan top scoring with 55.

Mushfique Ahmed, 3-52, and Oliver Rose, 2-52, did their best to rattle the visitors in reply but, in the end, it proved to no avail as they reached their target of 164 for the loss of just six wickets.

There was better luck though for the Town IVs as they hammered Preston IIIs by 137 runs in Division Thirteen.

David Morgan Jnr top scored with 40 as they posted 199-8, which proved more than enough as the visitors could only manage a meagre 62 in reply, with Morgan Jnr taking 2-9 to complete a fine all round performance.

Gurpreet Singh, meanwhile, took 3-7 and Haroon Afridi 2-14.
Elsewhere in the Saracens Herts League, Dunstable got back to winning ways in Division One as they cruised to a five-wicket win at Hoddesdon.

The hosts, batting first, were bowled out for 180 with Steve Watts, 5-56, and Luke Cherry, 3-29, the main wicket takers.

The visitors' response was built around a fine 68 from Geoff Baines and 37 not out from Steve Watts as they made 181-5 to cruise home.

In Division Three, Town's second string slipped to a disappointing eight-wicket defeat at home to Broxbourne.

Dunstable could only manage 136, with only Nick Massie making a significant contribution. In reply, Broxbourne reached their target with eight wickets still intact.

Also on the wrong end of a heavy defeat were Dunstable IIIs who were smashed by 138 runs against Tewin in Division Seven.

The home side notched 249-4 from their time at the crease, while the visitors were always struggling and were all out for 111.

Dunstable IVs, meanwhile, were hammered by fellow strugglers Potton IIs in Division Ten.

On an excellent batting track, Dunstable could only manage 152, despite good knocks from Paul Gilbert (54) and John Hill (45).

In reply, Potton's openers had no problems in knocking the runs off as they stormed to a 10-wicket victory
