Silverware for Luton minis
Lutonians U9s and U11s both win trophies at Chelmsford Festival
There was silverware for both Luton minis U9s and U11 at the Chelmsford Festival.
The U9s, who won the Rugby Lions tournament and finished as runners-up at the South Beds and Havant Festivals, were in great form.
In the group stages Luton beat Maldon 45-0, Westcliffe B 25-0 and Brentwood B 40-0. Luton then edged past Brentwood A 10-0 in the semi-finals before drawing 15-15 with Westcliffe A in the final. However, the cup went to Luton on the first team to score rule.
Tries came from Fraser Strachan (6), Lewis McCartney (8), Kai McArthur, Jack Hempsall (2), Harry Wright (3), Ben Wiggins and Cameron McCausland (6).
In the group stages the U11s beat Chelmsford 20-0, before losing 5-0 to Brentwood A. Their 20-5 defeat of Maldon sent them into the Plate final where they beat Westcliffe A 15-5.
Tries were scored by Harry Kingham (7), Georgio Massiah, Elliot Coan, Daniel Cooper and Callum Strachan.
Luton's U8s, meanwhile had mixed results. They opened up with a 30-20 victory against Blunham, before losing 45-5 to Brentwood and 50-10 to Upminster. Their tries were scored by Joe Webb (2) Scott Adams, Taylor Hagger (5), and Daniel Watt.
