Captain Nico says survival would be his greatest ever achievement

Returning captain Kevin Nicholls believes helping the Hatters to beat the drop would be his greatest ever achievement at Kenilworth Road, despite twice leading the Hatters to promotion.

The 29-year-old legend, who re-signed for Luton this week, says he is fit and raring to go and believes Town can beat the odds and maintain their League status.

He said: "I know it's a big challenge but with 2020 and Mick (Harford) as gaffer it is feasible. I won't say anything about the squads because it's not fair to compare them.

"When I was at Luton the first time, we were very successful and had two promotions. I'm sure if anyone is honest with themselves and if we survive this, it's bigger than both promotions. No-one has ever done this.

"It's not just about Kevin Nicholls, the club's most important and we need to get off to a winning start and get the momentum rolling.

"The fans here I can't say enough about them. I've always had a good rapport with them. They know how much I care and how much I feel for the club."

Nicholls' return to Kenilworth Road has been one of the worst kept secrets in football and he admitted he has made sacrifices to return.
