Page ton inspires Luton while Dunstable crash

Vauxhall Motors claimed maximum points from their Bedfordshire County Cricket League Premier Division clash with Ickwell as they secured a comprehensive 183 run victory.

Batting first, Motors racked up an imposing 299-4 from 46 overs, thanks mainly to the efforts of Zaheer Khan who made an unbeaten 129 from just 100 balls.

Khan was well supported by Israr Ahmed who weighed in with an undefeated 69 in a fifth wicket stand of 136.

In reply, Ickwell never threatened their target as they were bowled out for a paltry 116 in the 31st over.

Jon Cole Edwards was the only batsman to make an impression with an unbeaten 43 as Naeem Khan, 3-19, Ansar Shezad, 2-12, and Mohammad Ghufran, 2-22, did the damage.

In Division Two, Motors II secured a 41 run victory against their Ickwell counterparts in a high scoring encounter.

Masood Mahmood, 101 not out, led Motors to a formidable 286-5 before Ickwell responded with 245 all out. Mahmood, Hitesh Modhwadla and Dipak Parsooth took three wickets apiece.

An unbeaten 105 from Jeremy Page led Luton Town & Indians to a four wicket victory against Clifton in the Premier Division.

Page's innings enabled Town to chase down their target of 247 despite the efforts of Amir Gulzar who took 3-44 for Clifton.

Earlier, Rasib Khan and Nazarat Khan had made half-centuries as Clifton were dismissed for 246, Divyesh Patel taking 4-27 from 10 overs.

In Division Two, Town II went down to a four wicket defeat at the hands of Kempston Hammers.

Town made 170-5 from 46 overs, Samad Parker top scoring with 41, but this did not prove to be enough as Hammers, thanks chiefly to 72 from M Russell, reached their target in the 45th over.

Town III's had a day to forget in Division Four as they lost by seven wickets to Clifton II.

Batting first, Town were bowled out for an abysmal 31 in 13 overs, a target Clifton reached for the loss of three wickets in just seven overs.

Dunstable Town's Saracens Hertfordshire League Division One campaign got off to a forgettable start as they went down to an emphatic seven-wicket reverse at Letchworth.

Batting first, Dunstable struggled against Dom Marsh who took an impressive 6-22 as the visitors were dismissed for just 123.

Steve Watts top scored for Dunstable with an undefeated 37 but of the other batsmen, only Naeeem Khan and Matt Wood passed 20 in a disappointing effort.

Letchworth had few problems reaching their target with Jon Hilliard, 35, and Seb Franke-Matthecka, 32 not out, leading the way.

In Division Two, Luton Town & Indians had to settle for a draw in their clash with Old Finchleians.

Pradeep Jayanprakashdaran, 66, and Mohammed Haroon, 59, were the mainstays as Town reached 230 all out in 53 overs.

In reply, Old Finchleians made 176-7 to finish well short of their target. Divyesh Patel was the pick of the Town attack with 2-20.

Town's second string were on the receiving end of a 10- wicket drubbing at the hands of Old Haberdashers.

Sammy Ali took 6-47 as Town were dismissed for 103, a target that provided little in the way of trouble for Haberdashers thanks to Akash Christian who made a quickfire 71 to lead his team to the win in under 18 overs.

In a closely fought game, Town III lost by two wickets to Langleybury in Division Nine.

Akash Shah hit 48 and Viren Patel 36 as Town were bowled out for 130 and, although Harry Sookraj did his best taking 4-33, he could not prevent Langleybury from scraping home in the 50th over.
